First of all, I hope that everyone is safe and doing very well. As stated in my previous post, the coming Wednesday on the 6 of May our team is going to face the strong team of Praha in a knockout match.
The captain of the other team (medlin) has asked me to change the time of the event and start an hour earlier, that is to start between 19:45 – 20:00 CET (current Central European summer time) or 18:45 – 19:00 London time. In principle, I agree with the proposal, and unless the other team mates advise me to the contrary, the timing of the event is set an hour earlier.
Please bear in mind that the first match of the knockout phase, as well as the subsequent knockout matches (which we hope that our team will participate to), have twenty-four boards, that is about 50% more boards than the matches in the group phase. Therefore, we are going to need a bit of training on the one hand and on the other hand, we need to be prepared to sub, should any member of the playing team feel exhausted and/or for any reason cannot play all the 24 boards. The matches are not clocked, meaning that the 24-boards match could last longer than expected, especially if slow play or unexpected circumstances occur.
Please consult my previous post (https://tinyurl.com/y8l7lg2l) as regards the bidding and playing style of our opponents. They are good, however we can do this, as long as we are playing good bridge. Have a good (or as good as possible) weekend and hope to see you online, on BBO, on Wednesday, a few minutes earlier than 19:45 CET or 18:45 London time.
