Dear team mates,
Yesterday’s match was quite tense. the team of Kozsalin apparently deployed a good set of players and were anxious to get the match started. Their captain, Lg32 contacted me a few minutes before 20:00 and was angry because he was convinced we had to start at 20:00 CET. Of course, he realized it was 20:00 London time, and 21:00 CET that the match was supposed to start. Later on, wilimar assumed the role of the captain of the Kozsalin team and he also played last night.
A couple of mistakes set us back. Mea culpa, deal number 8 was unlucky for our team and it was my fault; I was reluctant to leave an opponents’ game contract in spades doubled and raised to +1 in hearts: we lost 10 IMPs on that deal as it was not possible to make the contract.
Overall, the match was balanced, and it ended 25-25. In spite of our successes, we were prone to mistakes. Our opponents capitalized on our problems and it was the first match that Kampala didn’t win in this edition of ICL. The score table shouldn’t change dramatically, as the second team in our group, Kuopio, was beaten by the team of Durbanville.
