Dear team mates,
Last Wednesday was a mini-disaster for Kampala, as our team was beaten (with a margin of 32 IMPs) by the team of San Severo.
In the first half, a failed (makeable) contract by our opponents (and our first points) was followed by a failed (makeable) contract by our team (Inger-Lise & Aystein) and then by another failed (not makeable) contract of 5 clubs.
In the second half, an excellently made game contract by our team (Inger-Lise & Aystein) was followed by the unfortunate defense of our team (Kath & Greer) against a not makeable contract by our opponents. Then, we (Inger-Lise & Aystein) failed to detect a makeable game contract in no-trumps and again then we (Kath & Greer) bought their non-vulnerable sacrifice and failed to bid a game contract.
A last minute excellent bid of a makeable game contract in hearts by our team (Inger-Lise & Aystein) couldn’t stop our imminent defeat. The cherry on top was the last board, where our opponents bid and made a makeable slam contract, while our team (Kath & Greer) stopped at game contract.
You may download our boards here.
In my opinion, it could be useful for Inger-Lise & Aystein to re-check the benefits that some no-trump contracts (extra tricks etc.) offer against suit contracts at game level. Kath & Greer could re-check their defense tactics as well as the slam bidding options.
At the moment, we are placed fifth and should not qualify for the next ICL round.

Next Wednesday, we are facing the team of Minerve (Lilufr is the captain). They have taken our previously held fourth place in our group. Please read the post and let me know whether you’re going to be available to play.
Kind regards and happy weekend to all !
My apologies if the post used a too harsh bridge language. All the best .
