Dear friends,
Yesterday’s match with the team of Amed turned out to be a triumph for Kampala. After a bit of a bumpy start, due, mostly, to the other team’s advantage for playing 1nt (15-17) and transferring to hearts (having South as a declarer), Kampala managed to pick the optimum contracts and smash the opposition, aided by an excellent defense. Our win was partly aided by the mistakes (both while defending and most importantly during play) of the team of Amed: e.g. boards 10, 12 and 14. One could spot our sole flaw, following this string of par excellence bidding and play (boards 5-15), in the last board, where the contract in clubs was missed by our team and made by our opponents.
The great victory margin (60 IMPs) leaves no doubt that our team dominated this match. Well done, Inger-Lise/Åystein and Sandra/Marcello!!!
The captain of the other team was a bit frustrated after the match ended. In fact, he told me that he would complain, because he felt that “your teammates were playing as they were seeing the hands”. I think this is rubbish and have told him so. Just by checking the played boards, one can see that this is not the case.
I have uploaded our boards here , in case you would want to review the hands.
Best regards for now and rejoice!
