Dear friends,

Last Wednesday’s result of our match against the team of Foça was a clear victory for us. Indeed, only two boards out of 16 were won by our opponents. The two pairs of our opponents seemed not to be communicating properly, or were, in fact, dumbfounded by the excellent bidding and play of our two pairs and were unable to follow through.

(Only two mistakes were made by our team, and they managed to capitalize on both occasions (board 2 and board 7), meaning that they are a very strong team. In one case, they bid and made a game at 5 level in clubs, where we were cautious to raise (rightfully, in my opinion) and in another case they made a makeable game at 4 level in spades, while we didn’t make, as we didn’t follow the rule to play trumps first).

As a team, we had a bye (one match less) and one match that was never played (Bakirkoy). Here’s our ranking:

Next Wednesday we are facing the team of Dubrovnik, Vedry is the captain of this team. Last Wednesday, they faced the team of Skopje Taftalidze and lost by a high margin. Seemingly, they were weaker in both bidding and playing. Overall, they have managed so far, to only defeat the team of Zadar.
