Dear friends. Last night’s match was a clear win of our team over the team of Poznan. While a couple of mistakes were made on our behalf, they had the lion’s share in that respect, both as regards bidding and playing. In the first half, they managed to keep the pace up to the 5th deal. A couple of mistakes of overbidding and, subsequently, underbidding game and part-score contracts on our behalf (boards 1, 4 and 5), made this possible; however, boards 6 and 7, with an erroneous choice of part-score bidding of Hearts and a game in NT on their behalf, gave us the ultimate win of 11 IMPs over our opponents. Also noted were the excellent fits in majors bid and played by our team in the 2nd and the 3rd deal (game and part-contract), while their team was unable to get there.
In the second half, apart from a bit of adventurous attempt to either find a fit in minors, either lure our opponents in bidding a not makeable game (2nd deal), our team dominated over Poznan. Noted are the excellent bid and play of the slam contract in Hearts on board 3, while our opponents just bid game and their gross playing and bidding mistakes on boards 4 and 7.
