The last matches of the round robin with the team of Sibiu Seniors ended in defeat for our team.
While the start of the first match was promising, with their team doubling a makeable (and made) contract, the rest of this match was rather disastrous, apart form the last board. To cut a long story short, on board 4, on a rather risky 2NT bid of our team, they smelled blood and again doubled, this time successfully. On board 8, our team had the opportunity to turn around the tables as we correctly bid 6H, while our opponents, cautiously, bid 4H; however we managed to miss the 100% makeable slam by 2 tricks and they made their game +2. In the last board, we bid game and, fortunately, successfully made it, while our counterparts just bid part-score. Score: 11 (us) – 25 (them).
In the second match, they capitalized on our failure to make a game contract in S on board 2, were able to, correctly, bid game of S and make +1 from North, instead of South, on board 3, using their artificial strong 1 C bid and immediately took a lead of 23 HCPs. Fortunately, we were able to rebound to an extent, as they started overbidding (board 4), failed to make a part-score in S and, finally, overbid again and were penalized with our double in the last board. Score : 21 (us) – 25 (them).

Seemingly, the teams of Słupsk-Ski and Poznan did not manage to play yesterday. So far the results in our group are :
To the best of my understanding, our team will make it to the knockout round, or at least to the intermediate KO round (therefore, we may have to play an extra eliminatory match).
