Dear friends,
As you well know, on Wednesday, 26 of April, Kampala was knocked-out of the ICL competition by the team of Manchester. The margin was very thin, only 4 IMPs; however, I think that, somehow, we did it to ourselves.
I will save precious time by just mentioning the deals that, I think, made this happen. They were deal 3 and deal 12 in the first match, where we lost 25 IMPs; and also deal 3 and deal 6 in the second match, where we lost 16 IMPs. In the first match, both initiatives of overbidding went bad and in the second match, in one instance we never reached the 3 Clubs contract we should’ve reached and ended up in an overbid game contract (3nt), while in the other instance, an attempt to bid game in Hearts (again overbid) went bad.
You may check the results of the first match here and of the second match here. Perhaps we’ll have the opportunity in the next season to get even with the team of Manchester, I do not think they were much superior in bridge terms.
I will be arranging some Swiss Team Tournaments and other interesting tournaments in the meantime and will keep you updated.
Best regards for now.
